Sack Lunch Program

The Social Ministry team connects with 2nd Reformed Church to support the Summer Sack Lunch program. The program is for children in our community during the months of June – August. This ministry provides a noon meal for school age children who may otherwise go without during the summer months. There are many opportunities to volunteer, buy groceries or contribute money to this ministry. A box for donations is located by the front desk.

Adopt a Family

Peace sponsors low income families each Christmas season to help provide them with needed supplies. Tags are hung on the "Angel Tree" at Christmas time to support families in need; requested items are then wrapped and returned under the tree for distribution to the families. Amanda Lane spearheads this effort at Peace every year. For more information about the Adopt a Family ministry please contact Crossroads and ask about Holiday Adopt.

Peace sponsors the blood drive four times a year in March, April, September, and October. The Blood Center of Iowa holds their regular community blood drives in Pella at Peace Lutheran Church on the fourth Monday of each month starting 1:30pm. Appointments are made for donors but walk-ins are always welcomed.

Caring Visitors

The Caring Visitors ministry is part of the Social Ministries Committee at Peace. Through visits, phone calls, notes, and prayers we reach out to church members who are shut-ins or sick, those who have lost a loved one, and mothers with new babies. One of the members of Caring Visitors arranges for volunteers to take a meal to those who are sick or when a baby arrives. Volunteers are also available to take members to doctor appointments. The group is led by Anita Whitaker.
