Quilting Project for Lutheran World Relief

Once a month the women of Peace Lutheran Church gather to make quilts. New and used fabric is donated for this purpose. Many people spend hours at home to prepare quilt tops, backs, and liners so that there is an ample supply of pieces for pinning together and tying on work days. A couple volunteers take home the prepared quilts to be hemmed.

The quilts are delivered twice a year to an Ankeny collection site, once in the spring and again in the fall. After the quilts are delivered to the Ankeny site, the quilts are then shipped to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in Minnesota and prepared for shipment to places where needed.

The women of Peace Lutheran Church have been working on quilts for Lutheran World Relief since the fall of 1976, even before the official formation of Peace Lutheran Church.

If you would like to donate to the Quilters of Peace for the continuous making of quilts, please drop off your donations at reception desk at Peace Lutheran Church with note saying that the donation is for the Peace Quilters.

Any fabric that you may have, that you have never gotten around to using and would like to donate would be appreciated. Also if you have any used mattress pads and blankets that you would like to donate, they would be used as quilt liners. As long as the donations are clean it does not matter if there are stains, small holes, or worn spots. The donations would be greatly appreciated.
