Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. What is the role of the Relocation Steering Team?
The Relocation Steering Team will lead and guide all aspects of the relocation process for our church. The Relocation Steering Team will make recommendations to the Peace Council for action. The Peace Council will have final authority on any action taken during this process.

    • The Relocation Steering Team will be providing updates to council each month at their regular meetings as well as quarterly membership meetings.
  • 3. How can I become involved in the relocation process?
    • Pray for our church and our church leaders as we set forth on this exciting opportunity for the ministry of Peace Lutheran Church.
    • Be willing to serve when called upon.
    • Submit ideas in the suggestion box at the Relocation Station
    • Keep informed by reading articles here, in the Peace Newsletter and attending quarterly meetings.
  • 4. Why Can’t We Stay in Our Present Location?
    • Peace Lutheran Church decided to move because the facilities in which it presently meets are not adequate to support its present ministries or the ministries it must undertake in the future. Peace Lutheran Church is in process of building and moving to new facilities because there is no room to expand at its present location and it needs more space for its present and future ministries.
    • It is impossible to increase the present facilities because there is not, and will not be, land available for expansion at its present site. Expansion of building would require expansion of parking, for which there is no space at the present location. There is not adequate space for expansion under Pella City code at our present facility.
    Space is inadequate for:
    • The education of children, youth, and adults.
    • The food shelf and quilting ministries.
    • Fellowship, welcoming, and sharing concerns.
    • Worship.
    • Expansion of ministries.
  • 5. What are the benefits of a new location?
New facilities would allow Peace to:
    • Provide classrooms conducive to learning for children.
    • Provide dedicated space for youth ministry.
    • Expand adult education.
    • Provide storage space for the food shelf and quilting ministry.
    • Provide informal meeting space for small groups.
    • Share coffee fellowship, display information, and welcome visitors in an expanded narthex.
    • Provide sanctuary space adequate for growth in attendance with overflow space for special occasions.
    Consider new ministries
    • for day care for infants and older adults,
    • for youth,
    • for fellowship and recreation,
    • for health care,
    • for education,
    • for music,
    • and wherever the Spirit might lead us in the future.
