Global Missions

There's a whole world just waiting to hear the Good News. Whether it is with prayer, financial support or short-term missions trips, we're helping those in need with key partnerships.

Key Partnerships

Mwanga, Tanzania

As the African AIDS crisis raged in the 1990’s and into the 2000’s, it left in its wake orphans who needed to be reminded of God’s love for them. Led by Peace member, Rev. Dick Whitaker, and partnering with many Lutheran churches throughout Iowa, a relationship was formed and strengthened with Mwanga, Tanzania and it’s families.

Since 2002, more than 5,000 orphans have been supported in their schooling (preschool to University) from tuition to uniforms. Their schooling helps break the cycle of poverty leading to better jobs that provide for their families and allows them to pay-it-forward to other orphans.

Countless widows have received micro-loans to support themselves and their families. A new water well was dug and built. Visiting Tanzania every two years has allowed for friendships to be built and developed. It’s God’s work in the region and we are His hands and feet.

Lutheran World Relief

Founded by Lutherans in the United States at the end of World War II, grounded in Lutheran theology and building on decades of experience, Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being.

Peace hand makes quilts and recently masks to helps those most vulnerable around the world. Combining the talents of the people of Peace with the resources and needs of Lutheran World Relief, it just one way we put our faith into action.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

— Mark 16:15 (NIV)
